The last wedding of 2022 at the Peak Edge hotel in Chesterfield was lined up to be a good one. When I met with James and Laurie, they had told me their plans and they sounded great. A small and intimate wedding with their closest family and friends was always going to be lovely and I couldn’t wait.

On the day of the wedding, I arrived to find Laurie and her bridesmaids in the Devonshire suite having their make up finished off. Her stunning wedding dress was hung in the room and her Carvella shoes were underneath ready for her to get them on.

I stayed with the bridal party for a short time and captured some lovely moments as they unfolded whilst my second photographer met up with James and his best man as they arrived at the venue.

The whole of the Peak Edge Hotel had been decorated beautifully. The place was full of twinkling lights and Christmas trees, it felt wintery and magical and it was the perfect backdrop for fantastic pictures.

As friends and family started to arrive, I quickly made my way back to the wedding suite to find Laurie being helped into her dress by her mother and she looked absolutely beautiful!

As I went headed into the ceremony room, James was calmly awaiting for the arrival of his bride to be and shared a laugh and joke with his best man. I’m not sure I have ever met such a calm and collected groom just moments prior to his wedding ceremony, he was cool as a cucumber!

The curtains were pulled back and Laurie and her bridesmaids entered and walked down towards James at the front of the room – his smile said it all!

After a lovely ceremony with some wonderful readings, it was time for the reception where James and Laurie were blessed with some fantastic speeches which brought tears and laughter to the room. James’s best man, Carl, made one of the best speeches I have heard and had all the guests in fits of laughter.

The beautiful day was finished off with lots of dancing, conga trains and plenty of booze – it was a perfect end to a perfect day. Thank you so much for letting me be part of it. I wish you both all the best for the future…..Matt
