After watching the video of ‘Daysey’ proposing to Diane after running a hardcore 153 miles of the ‘Spartan’ Marathon, it had to be one of the most romantic and epic proposals I have ever seen. Diane then contacted me a few days later and asked me to photograph their wedding day and I knew it was going to be amazing.
Having worked with Diane for many years and seeing many Facebook posts, it felt like I knew Daysey before we even met (yes I did nick that from Colins amazing best man speech). After I met up with them for their pre shoot over in Mansfield, I quickly learnt that they had big plans for their day at Warwick House.
I made my way down to the venue and had a quick recce around as I arrived before nipping up to see Diane and her daughters Nicole and Rebecca. As I walked in, a full rendition of ‘Fresh Prince of Bel Air’ was booming out with all 3 singing away!! Madness and super chilled…… my kind of wedding prep!
Daysey was in the Honeymoon suite at the venue and looked very dapper as he started to get ready. Colin, his best man, nipped in to check how the nerves were holding up with not long to go before the main event. After pocketing his handkerchiefs for later, Daysey headed down to await the arrival of his guests.
I nipped back to see Diane as she was helped into her dress and she looked truly stunning. If Daysey was on the edge of tears now, I knew one look at Diane as she walked in would set him right off. Diane was super calm and relaxed as waited the last few minutes before it was time to head down for the ceremony.
As Diane walked down the stairs, she was greeted by her Dad whose smile said everything – pure pride – after taking his arm, they made their way down the aisle to a very happy Daysey.
The ceremony was lovely and I can honestly say that there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. The bride and groom were smiling from ear to ear and it was clear to see that they are a perfect match.
Confetti, photos and canapés followed in the beautiful venue before we were all treated to some amazing speeches by Daysey and Colin. It was then time for the arrival of some evening guests and time for the dancing to begin.
An all round brilliant day and I feel very privileged to have been present to capture some of the wonderful memories!
I wish you all the best…………. Matt
